How this site makes money

Shade & Steam is funded by affiliate commission. Here is exactly what that means and what it is not allowed to change.

What an affiliate link is

Some links go to retailers or manufacturers. If you follow one and buy something, this site may receive a commission from that seller. The price you pay is the same either way. Where a page carries such a link it is labelled next to the link, not only here.

What it does not change

• What gets covered. Subjects are chosen because a question is unanswered, not because a product pays.
• What a record says. Ratings, code sections and certification details are recorded as written. A product with no affiliate programme is recorded the same way as one that pays.
• Whether a limitation gets mentioned. If a product has a documented limitation it appears in the record regardless of any commercial relationship.

What is not accepted

No sponsored posts, no paid placements, no paid reviews, no fee for inclusion in the Index or any comparison, and no advance review of drafts by manufacturers or their agencies.

Shade & Steam does not sell structures, heaters, electrical equipment or installation services, and is not owned by or affiliated with any company that does.
